So, you’ve started your home based business…. you want to be known as “that Company XYZ person”. Now, you may not think of yourself on the same level as Bill Gates or WalMart or even Pepsi… but in your own small way you are.
You see, in order to be successful online, people need to be able to recognize you.
Whether that be from seeing your name and picture on your advertisements, your blog, your social network pages, your own website, etc.
In other blog posts here I have referred to promoting yourself while promoting various programs. The easiest way to do that is by using your picture, your name and your contact details. This does a couple of things for you. People start to recognize you. This builds credibility. By having contact information you also show that you are a legitimate business person. Personally the first thing I do when looking at a product or sales page is see if there is contact information. Legitimate businesses always have real contact information and not just an email address.
Now, I’ve had a lot of people tell me that they don’t want to put their phone number online because they could have thousands of people call them every day. Well, wouldn’t that be a great “problem” to have? Seriously. Wouldn’t you rather have prospects calling YOU instead of you calling THEM for a change? You betcha!
The downside of branding yourself is that you will also be known by what you promote. So if you just want to do get rich quick, retire tomorrow garbage you may not want people to know who you are. But if that is the case then I have to ask: why are you promoting it? Think about it for just a minute. I don’t care what I can make on a quick turn – I am in this for the long haul and not looking to grab and run. Are you? Hopefully not.
Branding also has a cumulative effect. The more often that your name and face are seen by the average surfer (whether that be on traffic exchanges or safelist ads) the more you benefit from it. Understand that people that misuse traffic exchanges and safelists are the first ones to cry that they don’t work. They just throw up an affiliate page and surf a few thousand page views over two weeks and then tell everybody how they don’t work, then quit for 6 months. Then they come back and see those same faces still being shown in the exchanges.
Don’t you think they start to wonder what those “other” people showing their faces and contact information are doing differently? Aren’t people surfing exchanges and reading safelist ads more likely to want to join with someone that has shown themselves to be successful using this resource?
Think about that for a few minutes and let me know your thoughts.
Make Every Day Count!
